Steve Gilbert takes questions from people in St Columb Major Liberal Club

Dozens of people turned up last night at the St Columb Liberal Club to quiz Prospective MP Steve Gilbert as he hosted the first in a planned series of Question & Answer sessions.

Commenting on the hour-long event Steve Gilbert said: "We're told that people are turned-off by politics but last night there was a good turn out and a healthy range of questions - everything from the regeneration of St Columb to the Lib Dem view on scrapping Trident. In fact, the questions were so good we over-ran on time."

The Lib Dem candidate is planning to host eight village hall Question and Answers sessions across the St Austell & Newquay constituency to give people the chance to put their questions to him direct.
