GILBERT WELCOMES TAYLOR'S APPOINTMENT TO ECO-TOWN BOARD12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 7th Jun 2010
The new MP for St Austell & Newquay, Steve Gilbert, has welcomed the appointment of his predecessor in St Austell, Matthew Taylor, as the independent chair of the board that will steer the eco-town to completion. Mr Gilbert said: "The eco-town brings both opportunities and challenges to our community. I, like many others, believe there are still several unanswered questions about the percentage of affordable housing, where the jobs are coming from, and how our local infrastructure will cope. "But, I know that with Matthew Taylor so heavily involved in the process, local people across the community will have their voices heard, and I look forward to working with Matthew and the rest of the eco-town team to ensure this project puts local needs first."
